Psychological Support

Focussed psychological strategies, therapies and counselling techniques are incorporated into individualised therapy. Activities are adapted to diverse clients’ individual needs. These include:

Assessment

A variety of assessments are used in order to address the specific concerns of each client. Comprehensive assessments include:

  • Cognitive and/or Educational tests, which are used to identify Specific Learning Disorders (e.g., Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Dyscalculia), Giftedness, Intellectual Disability, Twice Exceptionality
  • Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder
  • Autism (adolescents/adults)

Standardised instruments include:

  • Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children, 5th Edition (WISC-V) (I-pad)
  • Wechsler Individual Achievement Test, Third Edition (WIAT-III) (I-pad)
  • Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale, Fourth Edition (WAIS-IV) (I-pad)
  • Comprehensive Test of Phonological Processing, 2nd Edition (CTOPP-2)
  • Test of Orthographic Competence, 2nd Edition (TOC-2)

Assessment formally explores strengths and weaknesses, may increase self-understanding, inform educational planning, applications and intervention, and promote equity and adjustments in educational and work settings. It often includes behavioural / social-emotional and broader screening because other factors may be impacting learning and functioning.

Assessment Process

  1. An intake session to gain an understanding of developmental, medical and educational history.
  2. Interviews and collaboration with other parties such as teachers, specialists, family if required.
  3. Assessment (which may occur over more than one session).
  4. Once all assessment information has been collected and analysed, a written report with recommendations will be produced.
  5. Feedback session to discuss results.

Workshops & Groupwork

Groups can be structured or semi-structured to provide information and skills training as well as mutual support and sharing.

Workshops may be one-time events for learning and practising different coping and well-being habits.
