About

Michelle Elias
“I believe clients are the experts in their own life. I am always trying to help them to recognise their unique qualities in order to strengthen their self-image and self-efficacy. I enjoy uncovering a client’s assessed strengths and skills and using this to help empower them”.
Michelle is a friendly, caring and down-to-earth practitioner. She enjoys assisting clients to explore factors impacting them/their relationships, how they might learn and develop helpful habits and skills and improve their quality of life. Her support is collaborative and person-centred to help harness strengths and interests when working towards goals.
Michelle is oriented to help individuals develop insight into current thinking, feeling, behavioural, and environmental factors impacting them, and how they might move towards change.
She uses a formulation approach to individualise and understand the wider context of a client’s concerns such as social circumstances, interpersonal relationships, life stressors, development, strengths and difficulties.
Formulation enables possible hypotheses to be developed and tested, continually updated and explored throughout therapy about:
- the presenting problem
- predisposing factors (what may make person susceptible)
- precipitating factors (potential triggers)
- perpetuating factors (what potentially maintains problem)
- protective factors (what may help)
Michelle has teenage children, a spoiled cat, Benny, and in her spare time enjoys old movies and keeping active outdoors.
