Enabling access to affordable mental health care and assessment services is important at Steps to Soar.  A mix of private full fee and bulk billing is available.

Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP)

The Better Access to Mental Health Care Initiative enables clients with a current GP Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP) or a psychiatrist/paediatrician assessment and management plan to access up to 10 Medicare-rebated sessions in a calendar year.

  • Contact your GP, Psychiatrist or Paediatrician to determine your eligibility for this service.
  • Eligibility is related to impairment in cognitive, affective and/or relational abilities which may require intervention, medically-diagnosed disorder or illness.

Standard Consultations (fees at 07/25)

Full Fee:  Individual session (50 minutes) is $125.00 (*)

*For clients with a current MHTP the Medicare rebate is $98.95, which leaves an out-of-pocket gap payable of $26.05

Clients with Private Health Insurance should contact their insurer to determine their eligibility for a private health insurance subsidy.

Bulk Billing

There is no out-of-pocket fee for eligible clients with a current MHTP.

  • Eligible clients:  pensioners (home visits)

NDIS

Full Fee:  Individual session (50 minutes) is $125.00

Steps to Soar is not an official NDIS Provider.  However, NDIS clients who are self-managed are supported.

Payment

Payment is required after each consultation via credit card, Eftpos or invoice (no cash is handled).  Once payment is received the clinic processes rebate direct with Medicare.  Medicare credits the client’s nominated account, and this usually occurs within a few days.

Clients who use Private Health Insurance would follow up subsidy independently with their insurer.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellation/Failure to Attend Fee

Clients should provide 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment in order to enable the booking to be filled by another client.

Clients who provide less than 24 hours’ notice or fail to attend appointment will be charged the full fee. Medicare and health funds do not provide any subsidy for cancellations.

It may not be possible to offer clients who fail to attend subsequent sessions a future appointment.  Individual circumstances will be accommodated as far as possible.
